Poppy Appeal 2006 is voted top campaign by PR Institute
The Legion’s Corporate Communications team is celebrating after winning the annual Chartered Institute of Public Relations' Excellence Award for Not-for-Profit Campaign of the Year for its 2006 Poppy Appeal Campaign.
The Excellence Awards recognise and reward best practice in public relations throughout the UK and acknowledge team achievement at the highest professional level.
The award judges said:"This strategic PR and communications campaign was developed with external consultancy support to appeal to young audiences and traditional supporters alike.
"The use of research, young spokespeople, a range of traditional and new media and some highly creative, poignant events successfully highlighted the challenges faced, the support needed and the extent of the work of the Legion today.
"The breadth and quality of the media coverage and messaging achieved across a range of media platforms by this integrated PR campaign was very impressive."
Stuart Gendall, the Legion’s Director of Corporate Communications, said: "We hope that everyone can share in this recognition of the sheer hard work of thousands of Poppy Appeal collectors, volunteers and staff across the country who have done so much to keep the profile of the Legion so high, and of the continuing importance of Remembrance."
